Aluminium Conservatories

Aluminium Conservatories

Strong, slim and colourful

Aluminium frames are also extremely secure and ideal for use in bi-folding doors, a popular feature for a contemporary conservatory or orangery. Additionally, windows and doors using aluminium never absorb water, rot or rust. In the last fifteen years or so aluminium windows have decreased in popularity mainly because it became a more expensive alternative than PVCu , albeit for a much stronger extrusion. The strength of aluminium makes it ideal for large glass areas such as sliding patio doors. Traditionally the insulation qualities of aluminium were quite poor when compared to PVCu and it was often susceptible to condensation.

This lack of insulation is now remedied by installing a ‘thermal break’ in the frame. If you choose aluminium replacement windows we would only suggest you consider windows with a thermal break. Our Polyamide thermal break is the best available and ensures frame insulation comparable with any other material used in window fabrication. Aluminium windows can be fitted nowadays as ‘direct fix’ – i.e. directly against the brickwork rather than the old fashioned technique of lining with a hardwood subframe. One of the reasons for the resurgence of interest in aluminium is the fact that it can easily be produced in any RAL colour, still maintenance free and at very little extra cost.

Conservation note

Aluminium is the only frame material that is 100% recyclable in all circumstances. Please see our recycling policy for further information on how we aim to minimize the impact of your planned home improvement on the environment.
