Local competitor goes into administration

We were sad to note the demise of one of our major competitors this month. Hunts Glass LLP based at the Little Paxton showsite have gone into administration. Hunts Glass were always a worthy competitor who, unlike some others, did not cut corners in order to achieve the lowest price. We are proud to be in a position to have given jobs to Julian Hale, who used to run the conservatory division, as well as two of their experienced installers. Julian brings a wealth of experience to the company and we look forward to working with him in 2008. Read More

Admiral Homespace

After seventeen years of Admiral Windows and Conservatories, we have decided to gradually change our branding. In consultation with advisors, staff and the general public, it has been decided that our old name does not accurately reflect the extensive range of services offered. We now build garage conversions, home extensions and loft conversions as well as our core window and conservatory work. Admiral Homespace is supposed to reflect more accurately our position in the market as a provider of space as well as our web space or presence. Same owners, same high quality but now a slightly different branding. Read More

New EVOLUTION range introduced

The majority of our clients prefer a maintenance free material for their windows or conservatory frames. The demand for timber is very much on the increase however and we feel that this is a trend that is set to continue. The new EVOLUTION range could quite possibly appeal to both camps. It is not a smooth PVC frame but it looks like timber…..without the maintenance issues. Interested? We can send you as  brochure, or better still why not call into the showroom and view the EVOLUTION range for yourself?… Read More

Loft conversion enquiries through the roof !

The word seems to have spread regarding our successful diversification into loft conversions. April saw a record number of enquiries and sales, despite the fact that we have only just started to advertise the product offer. Diversification is usually a slow process and we are careful that it should not interfere with the window or conservatory sides of our business. Early results seem to show that we have read the market right ……  loft conversion is prefereable to paying moving fees!… Read More

Demand for timber still rising………..

September saw the first anniversary of our being appointed authorised distributors for timberwindows.com the industries most innovative window and door manufacturer. From its bases in Oxford and cyberspace, timberwindows.com has taken the industry by storm with its unique website facilities and magnificent product range. They report a first year turnover that has exceeded target by 900%. We concur with these figures at Admiral. Our visits to the website for timber products vastly out number those for PVC windows and doors. Timber it would appear is definitely back in style!… Read More

Admiral Homespace Loft Conversions

Admiral Homespace the loft conversion division of the company is officially launched. After many months of preparation a new chapter in the history of Admiral will see the skills of its existing staff utilised in the creation of loft conversions throughout East Anglia. Steve Thorogood Admirals MD comments. “This diversification is a natural shift for the company as we already employ all of the skills required including structural engineers and partnering with local building control. There are very few professional organisations offering loft design and conversion work in the area and our reputation should ensure the success of the loft conversion operation”. House prices having doubled over the past five years and the huge increases in stamp duty are encouraging many people to stay put and improve their homes. The relative cost of loft conversions, have in the past confined… Read More

Local Authority Partners

Admiral is proud to announce that it has been awarded partnership status with Huntingdon District Council Building Control. The award is made in recognition of the close work carried out between the two organisations over the past five years. As many of 40% of Admiral conservatories now require building regulations approval, due to them being open plan or being classed as extensions. The company even has its own designated Building Control officer, who handles every application for the entire area of operation, overseeing the applications to each seperate local authority.
