Stoned Love…………

The natural stone used for this is a Supreme match (sorry!) making the installation a rather elegant addition, despite being a basic lean to design. It goes to show that curves and hipped roofs are not always the best way to design a conservatory, providing attention is paid to the detail. Read More

Conservatory of the year 2

The pictures do not really do this conservatory justice. The house and garden are really lovely and make a conservatory leading from one to the other a natural improvement. There is even a secret garden leading from a rear section of the conservatory, a first for Admiral!… Read More

Conservatory of the year

We installed some lovely conservatories in 2006 but we think that this is the nicest. Website limitations mean we can only show one installation photograph per Conservatory of the Month…….so we intend to make the inside of this one Februarys COM and the outside the featured conservatory for March. The missing link

Clever design enables one room to be linked to another by using a conservatory. This always adds more value than a regular build leading off a single room. In this case, the conservatory links one part of the house to the other creating a through route that was not available prior to the project completion. The ground floor layout is altogether more satisfactory to them and any furure purchaser of the property. Read More

Clever use of the garage

This conservatory was cleverly designed to make use of the space available by utilising the garage wall within the design. Of course, we had to build up and insulate the wall so that the heat loss was minimised in order to comply with building regulations. The plastered finish and door through to the garage make the conservatory look less of an add-on and more like an integral part of the house. An example of how employing a good designer (ours come free!) can save money as well as add value to your home. Read More

Corner Conservatory

We are often asked to fit conservatories into a corner where the existing walls are a great help but occasionally we are requested to design on to an external corner of the house. Clever use of box gutters can allow a conservatory to still be erected with a steep pitched roof as is the case here.Having thought a conservatory was not possible, the clients are now delighted to be able to view their lovely garden and surrounding countryside from this lovely house on a hill. Move or Improve chooses Admiral… again

Move or Improve? have selected this installation to feature in their December issue. We are proud to have been selected to appear twice in such a prestigious publication. The conservatory was required to link the new kitchen to an upgraded study at the rear of the garage. Admiral completed the study upgrade as well as the conservatory with the approval and inspections of Stevenage Borough Council. Offering a full design through to all aspects of building certainly benefitted all concerned. Read More

Outside it looks lovely

The patio finishes this conservatory off a treat. This was a really interesting installation as the client is an expert on ground works due to a career in the Oil Industry. One of the main reasons he chose Admiral was because we were prepared to carry out structural calculations and devise a special footing. This was required due to the proximity of the garden to a stream as well as the local soil conditions. We also had to fit reinforced floor beams to carry the weight of the jacuzzi installed inside! A national magazine Move or Improve has featured this installation in the August edition. Read More

Big enough for a party

This client needed a conservatory that was big enough to use for entertaining friends at summer barbeques or winter dinner parties. It certainly beats hiring a marquee and demonstrates how practical as well as attractive a well designed conservatory can be. Read More

They said it could not be done!

A conversation during a haircut led to this installation! The salon owner, a well known local personality suggested to Steve our Managing Director that it was impossible to build an open plan conservatory on to his home because the house had piled footings. Steve took up the challenge and they are both highly delighted with the resulting extension to the kitchen. The house was built in an area that had an old archeological dig in the vicinity and therefore the whole estate had piled footings to a depth of over 6 metres. In most cases this means that an extension would also require piling which would add thousands of pounds to the build. Admirals partnership with the local building control enabled its structural engineer to design a steel reinforced raft foundation that proved to be sufficient for the work to… Read More
