The old conservatory fear, of being too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter has led to the desire for more of an extension feel to a room. If this can be accomodated whilst still allowing light to filter through and into the home then all the better. This is where the Orangery has gained its popularity. A year round extension to your home, usually with more brick than a conservatory and a look that is classy in either a contemporary or traditional finish.
An Orangery is in effect a flat roof with a glazed lantern built on to it. This gives a solid plinth around the perimeter and a flat ceiling for spotlights around the edge of the Orangery. The glass lantern provides the natural light from above as well as giving a view of the sky. We recommend the use of self cleaning glass roof in the lanterns and an EPDM covering for the flat roof. The combination of insulated brickwork, our high-quality glazing and super insulated flat roof ensures that they can easily surpass industry standards for thermal performance. The windows and doors can be specified in PVC, Aluminium or Timber with another trend appearing to be that of a modern style Orangery with Bi Folding Doors, giving maximum opening to the garden.
