Re modelling

Updating tired old rooms and buildings with the latest high spec materials can make a huge difference to the aesthetics, value and lifestyle you enjoy within your home. Squaring up older Victorian shaped rooms, changing roof designs, adding lanterns, moving door positions or adding steels and a fancy new bi folding door are all ways of modernising your home and adding wow factor to existing buildings.

Case Studies: 1: Lean to-Orangery

In this instance, a tired old lean to conservatory was not working for our customer. Heat loss was a major issue with the room being unusable in the winter months and the low pitched roof not adding too much visual appeal. A low roof was done at the time to fit under the air conditioning units on the back house wall and these needed to be considered with the remodelling.

This room was completely transformed with the addition of brick piers, low walls and an Orangery style roof and lantern. We opened up the back of the home to create an open plan aspect with wooden flooring running throughout. Our customer now has year round comfort, great aesthetics and a room that they entertain family and friends in.

2: Old flat, felt roof- modern, insulated roof with lantern and sky lights

Our customer came to us with a problem on their flat felt roof. It was looking tired, the felt was breaking down and they weren’t getting the light in that they wanted. Added to this, was an old porch area that had very little use and lots of waste and stack pipes that were causing an eye sore.

Here we took down the old outside porch area, boxed and insulated the interior walls allowing us to hide away all the pipes. A new insulated rubberbond roof was built into the tiled gable roof next to it and a new lantern and sky lights added. New spots were installed in the ceiling. To finish off and enhance the new light and spacious feel a three section bi folding door was added.

3: Old, cold conservatory- Insulated modern glass room

Our customer called us in as their old conservatory had started leaking, was too hot in summer and too cold in the winter. They wanted to modernise the whole room and make it useable throughout the year.

We started by removing the existing, reinforcing and insulating the walls before fitting new A rated frames with the latest solar controlled, self cleaning glass roof.

The internal walls were plastered, an orangery plinth formed inside the roof to provide more of an extension feel and a new floor laid to make the new room feel very much part of the home.

4: Old conservatory- Modern tiled garden room

Here we were called out to look at an older conservatory that was again too hot in summer and too cold in winter. It wanted to be used as a dining room off our customers kitchen but for most of the year this wasn’t comfortable enough so they wanted to re model their room and make it a year round extension to their home.

Taking down the old conservatory we were able to modernise the room by squaring it up. Brick piers were introduced into the design to give it an extension feel and appearance and a new tiled roof added to ensure the new dining room could be enjoyed comfortably throughout the year.

Anthracite grey windows and doors were chosen with the back utility door also being changed into a larger window. A large patio door allows light to flood through into the room and internal blinds in windows and doors allow our customer to control light, privacy and mood.

5: Old lean to- Modern Orangery extension

An old lean to conservatory had been fited to this property many years ago but was again not fit for purpose as comfortable dining was only possible for a short period of time each year.

Updating to modern insulated walls, piers and glazing has made a huge difference. The Orangery roof with its insulated plinth has been built into the low roofline of our customers home. Externally the aluminium gutter and cornice adds to the aesthetics of the new room.

Internally a chandelier adds a touch of elegance within the solar controlled glass roof. Our customer completed the transformation with new paving and a central astro turf section to create the perfect outside/inside living space.

6: Old Victorian cons-Modern square, aluminium cons

An old Victorian conservatory needed updating and a more modern look required. Here we squared up the base and used modern, flush fitting aluminiun frames in a soft grey finish. An aluminium roof with deep set rafters completed the modern look. A rated windows and doors with a solar controlled, self clean glass roof now provides our customer with year round use.

7: Old Victorian cons-Tiled roof extension

Our customer wanted to upgrade their old conservatory and at the same time make it work better for them in terms of door position and entry to the home. New anthracite coloured windows and doors were added. The door position changed to provide the access to the seating area on the patio and an open plan aspect formed into the home. An isulated tiled roof gave complete temperature control and internal magnetic blinds added to provide a cosier feel at night. Our customer now uses their new room year round, entertaining family and friends.

8: Old timber windows and doors-Modern serving hatch

An arcitectural designed tiled kitchen area had become tired with the timber frames being poorly insulated and worse for wear.

New, modern, slimline aluminium windows were installed. These new windows were thermally insulated and included the latest glass technology to provide as low U value as possible.

To the front elevation a bi folding window was introduced allowing our customer to open the kitchen to their lovely patio, seating area. A perfect way to extend the entertainment area, allowing them to serve drinks and food straight to their guests.

9: Adding glass and light to a barn conversion

Our customer had a lovely, barn, sitting room but wanted to bring more light into the room and enhance the views to the rear of his property.

Removing the back cladding, wall and internal detail we were able to fit a structurally calculated, steel goal post design. With careful design a new opening was formed.

The new room has views to die for and is flooded with natural light. Externally all of the black cladding was refinished and the use of engineered, multi layered timbers in the new windows and doors maintain this period feature despite the modern design.

10: Old lean to-Orangery extension

Another old conservatory that had been fitted some years ago. Our customers beautiful property really wasn’t being helped by the lean to design so we upgraded it to an Orangery extension that blended in with many of the other features of their home. Hand cafted, wood effect, windows and doors with a timber look joint were incorporated. Brick piers were rendered to match the house and the new room was opened fully to the sitting room with the fitting of a new steel to make the new extension part of their everyday life.

‘Over the years and in different properties I have had doors and windows replaced using the usual companies you see advertised on TV. Most of the work if not all was done

to about 70% satisfaction. The installers were contracter’s that had no commitment to what they were doing and it showed. We needed a new set of patio doors, thinking here

we go again going to get another job done that I know I won’t be overall happy with. I passed Admiral Homespace by chance, popped in had a chat with one of the sales team

who was not a cheesy sales guy in fact nice and pleasant to talk with (good start). We arranged a site visit he came over I explained what I was after which was to limit the

amount of surround and centre join of the doors he offered me a new to the market product that gave a centre join of 20mm and minimal surround. To cut a long story short,

bought the product it has been fitted by an excellent team who are employed with the company so have vested interest in doing a good job which they did. overall from sales

to surveying to organising and fitting the whole team are excellent very professional and actually care, the fitters Andy & Wayne look genuinely pleased with the doors and the

fact I was so pleased. I would highly recommend them looking to get new windows fitted so am going back to them. Happy to pass on pictures to them to forward to potential

customers’

Great After Sales Support!

Admiral installed our doors and windows in 2012. In 2026 our front door lock broke and the manufacturer didn't make them anymore nor had any spare parts !

Nadine and Andy road to our rescue. Andy researched a potential fix, Nadine ordered the parts and Andy promptly repaired our lock mechanism and then installed it back in the door.

Absolutely super service and support - even years after our initial install!

Admiral Homespace care for their customers !

The customer service was really good when I made my initial enquiry and I felt like the company prided itself on that. I had several questions which were answered promptly
and professionally and customer service is really important to me, particularly when I'm making a substantial purchase. I had a slight issue with the lock on my door and an engineer visit was arranged quickly and efficiently. The matter was resolved in a few minutes with a few adjustments. Very happy with the service.’
Admiral Homespace built and supplied the wooden windows and patio doors for our new Garden Room. They were built to a high standard and, working with our main contractor, adjusted to accomodate design changes as went along.
Installation went well and we are very happy with the result.
I'd definitely recommend Admiral Homespace to anyone looking for custom, handmade windows & doors for their project.

I used Admiral to have new conservatory, windows and doors fitted at my previous address. I was very pleased with the results so chose them to do the work when I moved house. I am delighted with my new glass conservatory roof. it’s made the room look bigger and brighter and much more inviting. Excellent customer service from start to finish, with Stuart, Nadine and Dave making the whole process smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend!’
