Signs Your Windows Need Replacing

Any window will need to be replaced eventually, and there are some tell-tale signs to look out for. Some of those signs include the following: 

Damage 

Damaged windows can cause a range of problems, such as causing leaks and making windows difficult to operate. Even worse, damaged windows can cause a weak spot that allows intruders to get into your home. While some damage can be repaired, it’s best to replace the windows completely if the damage is extensive enough. 

Poor Energy Efficiency 

Do you sometimes feel a draft coming from your windows? If so, then you’re likely using much more energy than you could be, potentially resulting in very high energy bills. In some cases, you might have single-paned windows or even older double glazing which are also energy inefficient when compared to new thermally efficient double glazing. Any investment you make in the latest window technology will likely be recouped with lower energy costs over the years. The new regulations that came in on June 15th 2022 have lowered the acceptable U value to 1.4 W/m²K meaning that all new window replacements will now benefit the homeowner with a more thermally efficient window. 

Too Much external Noise 

Depending on where you live, you might have a lot of noise outside your home. For example, people who live close to the road are likely to hear the traffic as it passes. This can be problematic if your windows aren’t effective at keeping the sound out. New windows can help reduce sound levels, especially with the help of modern technology that is available through double glazing and special, acoustic glass. 

Aesthetics 

Another sign you need windows is that they no longer look as good as they used to. And while a fresh coat of paint or a spring clean may help prolong any window’s life, the time for a complete replacement will come eventually.  Not only can new windows help make your home look fantastic, but they can also increase the value of your home if done properly.
