Tiled conservatory roof replacement
Replacing your old conservatory roof with a solid tiled roof really can offer the best of both worlds.
At Admiral Homespace we have worked with many systems to develop a roof that not only offers pleasing aesthetics and an extension feel to your room but is a true ‘warm roof’ not just in name but in its build and design. An Admiral tiled roof is constructed as a warm roof should be with the insulation sat above the joists. This eliminates any thermal bridging between joists and roof covering and negates the requirement of cross flow ventilation and battening of your new roof. A soffit and fascia is included to provide a real roof appearance and is fully insulated to eliminate any condensation risk.
Structural calculations are often required due to the additional load imposed as even the lightest imitation tile system can weigh twice as much as some conservatory roofs.
A PVC conservatory in particular is not designed to take a solid roof without structural frame supports (see images: Showing Bolster Support posts).
We would not consider fitting a tiled roof without checking the structural integrity of your build to include inspecting the footings, basework and the necessary support for a new roof replacement. At Admiral we will provide full structural information to building control and supply you with ‘end to end’ written certification for the work. Invaluable if you should ever sell your house.
One of the main reasons for changing an old conservatory roof to a new tiled roof is the incredible thermal properties that they provide. U values of just 0.15 W/m2k ensure that you can enjoy a comfortable temperature in your room, year round. If filtering light through into other rooms is important, Velux rooflights or full length glazing panels can be included.
