The go to, has always been UPVC and although we now seen a breakthrough in aluminium and timber options the ever-popular UPVC still reigns supreme. In choosing the windows and doors for your new room, why not choose something a little different? Colour is becoming more and more popular. The greys work really well, with Anthracite and Agate grey blending in really nicely with most house windows and brickwork. Green has also been a popular choice recently allowing you to take your new outside room and blend it with your garden features. Do I need Planning Permission and or Building Regulations?
The simple answer here is maybe!!
Whereas a simple conservatory would not normally require Planning Permission or Building Regulations there are many instances where a conservatory will change definition and one or both of the above will be required. Size, height, placement, materials being used, and whether your permitted development rights are in place, all have an impact on this decision. Many of our clients want to open plan their new room to the rest of the house or put a tiled roof on. In these instances, Building Regulations will be required with your new room being classed as an extension of your home (see our planning advice here Planning and Regulations | Admiral Homespace). Admiral can take care of all of the Planning and Building Regulations on your behalf and have been dealing with the local authorities for these permissions for many years.
