Aluminium is well and truly back in terms of demand for windows and is often the first choice of framing in modern architectural applications. If the requirement is for more view and light this will mean slimmer aluminium framed windows with large glass panels.
These requirements are perfectly possible using aluminium windows. Aluminium is light yet incredibly rigid, maintenance free and can be supplied literally any colour. Grey aluminium windows along with Sliding and folding Bifold doors that open the room completely are all hugely popular for new extensions and refurbishment projects.
Back in 1989 Admiral was formed from an aluminium background. Back then UPVC was making its way into the market and being much cheaper than aluminium it wasn’t long until it became the go to for window design. Aluminium took a backseat until recently when homeowners started looking for something different. Colour was the starting point, followed by bi folding doors and then the desire for more glass and less frame in the latest picture windows and large sliding doors. These products are tailor made for aluminium due to its inherent strength and stability and allow us to transform the way our customers enjoy their homes.
The many changing colours of aluminium
In the past the insulation qualities of aluminium were quite poor when compared to PVCu and it was often susceptible to condensation years ago with older systems. This lack of insulation is now remedied by installing a polyamide ‘thermal break’ in the frame and using our new thermally insulated glass units.
Contemporary homes or extensions are extremely suited to aluminium systems whether it be for a funky front door, large bi folding doors or a panoramic patio door system.

Admiral installed our doors and windows in 2012. In 2026 our front door lock broke and the manufacturer didn't make them anymore nor had any spare parts !
